ABOUT MEMy name is Marcus Laitila Ekelund. I am a professional game developer and IT Project Manager.
I am a creative person who enjoys expressing myself through art, music and games. I've always had a soft spot for play and games and their intricate design patterns. In high school I started to draw like mad, ever so eager to improve myself. Drawing and art is always a dear activity to me but music has grown to become the bigger interest, besides game development. As a game designer, I am very gameplay and experience oriented. Gameplay is of course, and has always been, the king but delivering a jaw-dropping moment to a player is a strong second place. I enjoy working with other creative people; exchanging ideas, building interesting games and telling jokes is what makes game development such a wonderful way to make a living. Even the most harsh deadlines are worth it, in the end. |
Career ambition
My career thus far as a game developer has led me to dabble into every portion of game development, including: design, project management, programming, graphics and audio. I have become a jack of all trades, though my main strength still remains within the designer/manager profession.
As a result, I always look for opportunities in the designer/manager category but I'm also confident as a content creator in junior level design, programming or audio production. While I am no stranger to graphics content creation, I feel less confident in that area to readily apply for any full-time positions in art.
I enjoy working in companies and a teams that appreciate versatility and flexibility, where no task will be left undone; where great responsibility is felt towards delivering the best product possible to the end users.
