MUSIC & AUDIO
My audio software of choice is FL Studio (Producer Edition). It's an excellent software with a lot to offer.

MEGATROID
MusicThe soundtrack of MEGATROID is heavily influenced by the classic NES-era games, especially Mega Man. I really love how every Mega Man song has a melody that instantly hooks you to the song. So that's what I aimed for: every track should have a melody that instantly hooks the listener.
The first iterations of the music were almost completely made by 8bit sounds, but over time I felt that the tracks would benefit a lot from more club-oriented percussion, as well as modern mastering with a much heavier sounding bass line to drive the music forward and get the player to feel pumped up. Every song (except the title track) are in 156 BPM. I chose the tempo based upon what would be a good "running" speed in order to match Hali's movement and speed in-game. Recommended tracks are 01, 02, 03 and 12. |

AudioThe sound effects for MEGATROID have been a continuous and substantial workload during development, but I've had great fun producing the very many sounds the game has.
Influence has again come from Mega Man and other various NES-era games, but, as with the soundtrack of the game, modern type sounds have also made its way into the audible landscape. Some sounds are also influenced a lot from Japanese Anime. I don't know what makes anime sound effects so gosh darn cool, but every time I hear them it makes me happy. I've borrowed some gameplay footage from TouchGameplay, as a quick way to demonstrate some of the sound effects the game has. It's a slightly dated version of the game though, but it works. |

Wisp
MusicMy second game soundtrack and probably my most beloved. I still was an apprentice when it came to mastering and mixing game audio, but the soul and heart I put into this soundtrack is something I'm very proud of.
Drawing inspiration from traditional nordic folk-music, I set out to create an enchanting soundtrack that would lull the player into the game's atmosphere. Being a fan of metal, I am not unfamiliar with some of the more acoustic pieces of music that usually accompany albums, especially bands from the Nordic countries (Finntroll, anyone?). However, the biggest influence on the Wisp soundtrack is definitely Wardruna. Nothing beats the sheer magic that band infuses into their songs. If you like this soundtrack, you'll definitely like Wardruna. Recommended track is 11. It speaks for the whole album. |

AudioThe audio production for Wisp was definitely a lot different from a usual game. This time around, the focus was on atmosphere and the depiction of solitude in a sometimes hostile environment.
As such, the music takes somewhat of a backseat in this game, fading in and out between tracks, allowing only the sounds of the forest to be heard. Fáfnir's deadly blood makes an awfully gushy sound when Eira gates too close to it, alerting the player to stay away, while crows and other animal sounds echo in the deep woods. Once again, I've borrowed some gameplay footage from the TouchGameplay channel on YouTube in order to demonstrate the game. |

Thunder BANG
MusicInfluence? Power Rangers. 90's.
My first game soundtrack, small in its size but rich in metal. The only track really worth anyone's time is the title track, Thunder Theme. I had so much fun making that song. Track 02 and 03 are played during the levels. They switch drum tempo when Thunder BANG starts running, so the music reflects the tempo of the game. Track 04 is played during the Comic-sequences between levels. AudioI don't have gameplay footage of the game, but the sounds were mostly punching sounds and explosions. However, I really liked producing some of those effects, especially the power-punch ones.
Combining a Howitzer, Shotgun and Laser Rifle really makes for a good smack in the gob. |
